Academy of Instructional Design Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern enrollment in and participation in programs offered by the Academy of Instructional Design (“the Academy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing Academy programs, submitting payment, or enrolling in any offering, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. Acceptance of these Terms is required prior to completing enrollment.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not enroll in or participate in Academy programs.

Eligibility

Academy programs are intended for adult learners. By enrolling, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.

Certain programs may have additional eligibility or readiness considerations, which are disclosed during the application and enrollment process.

Program Structure and Delivery

The Academy delivers online instructional programs that may be cohort-based, structured, or a combination of formats, as described at enrollment.

Program length, schedule, instructional methods, and required participation expectations are provided prior to enrollment. The Academy may make reasonable adjustments to program content, delivery tools, schedules, or instructional staff as needed to maintain instructional quality and operational effectiveness.

Tuition, Payments, and Financing

Tuition amounts and available payment options are disclosed prior to enrollment.

Payment options may include:

  • Pay-in-full tuition
  • Installment or monthly payment plans
  • Third-party education financing
  • Employer or third-party reimbursement

When third-party financing is selected, approval, repayment terms, and obligations are governed by the financing provider. The Academy does not guarantee financing approval and is not responsible for terms established by external lenders.

Enrollment is considered confirmed once payment is completed and these Terms are accepted.

Enrollment, Withdrawal & Refund Policy

Applications close prior to each Cohort Open Date as specified on the Academy’s website or enrollment materials.

Applicants will receive an admissions decision within five (5) business days of submission.

Once accepted, enrollment must be confirmed by payment within seven (7) calendar days of the acceptance notification. Failure to submit payment within this window may result in release of the applicant’s seat.

The Cohort Open Date is defined as the date learners are granted access to the Academy’s learning management system (LMS) and program materials, as specified for each cohort.

Refunds are available until 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the calendar day immediately preceding the applicable Cohort Open Date.

Once access to program materials has been granted, tuition is non-refundable.

Withdrawal from the program after the refund deadline does not relieve the learner of tuition obligations.

Access to LMS materials and live program components is provided only for the duration of the active cohort unless otherwise stated in writing.

Standalone elective enrollments require independent access to any necessary software tools. Software licenses are not included unless explicitly stated.

All withdrawal and refund requests must be submitted in writing to support@eid.academy with the subject line “Withdrawal Request.”

Notice is deemed received based on the timestamp of delivery to the Academy’s designated support inbox. Verbal requests, social media messages, LMS messages, or communications to instructors or mentors do not constitute formal notice.

The Academy reserves the right to make exceptions at its sole discretion.

Student Conduct and Participation

Learners are expected to participate professionally and respectfully in all Academy learning environments, including live sessions, discussion spaces, and collaborative activities.

The Academy reserves the right to suspend or remove a participant for disruptive behavior, academic dishonesty, harassment, or conduct that materially interferes with the learning experience. Removal for cause does not guarantee eligibility for a refund.

Intellectual Property

All Academy instructional materials—including curriculum, recordings, videos, templates, worksheets, and other content—are the intellectual property of the Academy or its licensors.

Learners are granted a limited, non-transferable license to use Academy materials for personal educational purposes only. Materials may not be reproduced, distributed, sold, or shared without prior written permission.

Learner-created work remains the property of the learner. The Academy may request permission to showcase anonymized or credited examples for instructional or marketing purposes.

Educational Purpose and Professional Outcomes

The Academy provides education and professional training designed to develop applied instructional design competencies.

While the Academy equips learners with portfolio-ready work and structured professional development, it does not guarantee employment, promotion, certification, income, or specific career outcomes.

Professional results vary based on individual effort, prior experience, market conditions, and other external factors beyond the Academy’s control.

.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Academy shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from participation in its programs.

The Academy’s total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount of tuition paid by the learner for the applicable program.

Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the state in which the Academy is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

The Academy encourages learners to raise concerns directly so issues may be addressed informally when possible.

Changes to Terms

The Academy may update these Terms from time to time. Changes apply prospectively and will not alter the terms of an enrollment already in progress unless required by law.

The most current version of these Terms will be made available through official Academy channels.
